When the pandemic started to subside in 2021, my family and I went to Jogja to accompany my older brother who was studying in Jogja at the Indonesian Islamic University (UII). UII is located in the Kaliurang area, which is an area close to Mount Merapi. The atmosphere there is still very cool and the surroundings are beautiful too.

In Kaliurang, we tried to go around campus and also looked for a nearby boarding house for my brother. After finishing looking for a boarding house, we went to lunch at Bakmi Jowo Mbah Gito which is located in Rejowinangun, Kotagede, DIY.

Uniquely, this place still maintains the characteristics of its past, decorated with various wooden ornaments arranged irregularly. it is said, the wood used in this place is a former cow shed belonging to the owner, Mbah Sugito.

The best-selling menu at this place is ‘bakmi jawa goreng’ and ‘bakmi godog’. I personally tried the 'bakmi godog' and it turned out to be really delicious. We also tried other menus which were no less delicious.

After finishing lunch, we went straight to Malioboro to spend time with my older brother who would be away from home for several years. Arriving in Malioboro, we immediately went to the hotel to rest after a fairly long journey. When we had enough rest, my family and I were ready to go walking around Malioboro to look for dinner.

After we finished with dinner, we continued walking on Malioboro Street to look for culinary delights there. We also bought some souvenirs there. After finishing everything, we went straight back to the hotel to rest again.

The next day, we had breakfast at the restaurant provided by the hotel. The food there is also varied and delicious too. Then, after that, we immediately got ready to check out and returned to Kaliurang to take my older brother to his boarding house. After that we said goodbye to him and immediately returned home to Jakarta.
